How We Define Diversity at SCA

The Sonoma County Alliance defines diversity, equity, and inclusion beyond traditional demographics. The SCA’s definition of diversity encompasses race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs, income, professional and academic backgrounds, businesses of all sizes, and representation from all industries.

We believe equity ensures that all people have access to opportunities which benefit them; therefore, we support policies that provide equal access to and expansion of opportunities. We commit to addressing any imbalances and systemic barriers that exist for those with marginalized identities within the business community, so they have an opportunity to grow and develop.

We believe inclusion means that all people are recognized for their differences and their importance and feel valued equally. It creates a sense of belonging and community across the boundaries of our differences.
